Thomas M. Eastwick

For forty years, Thomas M. Eastwick has transformed the lives of thousands of New Jersey residents. His belief that education should be practical, affordable, and accessible has helped more than 50,000 graduates build meaningful careers, support their families, and strengthen their communities.

In 1985, Mr. Eastwick purchased the HoHoKus Secretarial School in Ramsey, New Jersey, with just 32 students and a vision: to create educational pathways for people seeking opportunity beyond the traditional four-year college model. Twenty years later, HoHoKus School became the very first proprietary school in the state of New Jersey to receive degree granting approval becoming Eastwick College. Today, Eastwick College and the HoHoKus School of Trade serve approximately 4,500 students annually across campuses in Ramsey, Hackensack, Nutley, and Paterson.

Mr. Eastwick recognized early that New Jersey’s workforce needed skilled professionals in healthcare, technology, business, and the trades. Under his leadership, Eastwick developed career-focused programs in nursing, cardiovascular sonography, surgical technology, funeral services, HVAC, welding, plumbing, and electrical trades. These programs prepare graduates for high-demand careers that provide economic stability and upward mobility.

What sets Mr. Eastwick apart is not only his entrepreneurial vision but his community involvement beyond the classroom. Mr. Eastwick has dedicated his time and expertise to organizations that strengthen New Jersey’s workforce and healthcare systems. He serves in leadership roles with workforce development boards, healthcare institutions, educational organizations, and regional chambers of commerce, helping shape policies and partnerships that benefit communities throughout the state.

Equally important is his commitment to philanthropy. Through the Eastwick Foundation, Mr. Eastwick has helped raise more than $500,000 to combat hunger through the Feed the Hungry program while providing over a million dollars to other local non-profit organizations. In addition, he has provided hundreds of merit- and need-based scholarships to students facing financial hardship. His belief that no one should have to choose between an education and basic necessities continues to guide his charitable work.

Over the years, Mr. Eastwick has received numerous awards recognizing his leadership, philanthropy, and service. Yet his greatest achievement is reflected in the lives of the graduates who found opportunity because someone believed in their potential.
